Who is Dr. Roshan Parikh?

Dr. Roshan Parikh, better known as “Dr. Ro”, is a proud lifelong resident of Chicago and graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago-College of Dentistry where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2008. Before that, he attended Loyola University Chicago and received a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with dual emphases on finance and marketing. He now serves on UIC’s dental school board, as the head of the Recent Alumni and Membership Committees.

He purchased his first small practice in the south suburbs in 2008, with only 3 employees and 650 square feet of space. Since then, he has grown into a network of 20+ multi-specialty dental group practices with over 75 dentists who all embody his spirit of mentorship and genuine care for patients. On top of his growing DSO, he has recently been named the Head of Dentistry at Walmart's new Health Centers. He knew from an early age that he wanted to be in medicine because he wanted to help people, and he also knew he was gifted for business. He believed that putting the two talents together would make more if an impact than just 1 doctor could do alone.

“I work to maintain my relationships as a reputable clinician and do right by the patients and people I work with each day. My passion for dentistry runs deep, which is why mediocrity is never an option.” His work speaks truth to his words, as his Chicagoland Smile Group is one of the best in Chicago, and he has won several awards for his hard work and dedication, including: being one of Incisal Edge magazine’s Best Young Practitioners, 40 under 40.

Despite all his visions and growth, he still puts his patients at the center. In fact, every time he gets a new patient he takes the time to send them a handwritten note of thanks. He says that in today’s digital world, it is rare to see handwritten notes and he never wants them to go out of style because they are so much more personal. He also calls patients after procedure to check in on them.

While his illustrious career certainly speaks as a strong measure of success, his own personal measure of success is that when his family, staff, doctors, and patients are all happy, he is happy. He will help to fix anything that needs it, even if it’s something as simple as a printer not working, because he measures his own success by the success of his entire team. To this end, he conducts employee surveys monthly to receive their feedback.

When it comes to his DSO practice, he looks at it differently from others in the field, which may be why he is so much more successful. Rather than seeing it as an administrative business with hundreds of standardized locations under a single corporate brand, he sees each office as its own unique culture and local staff and patients. To him, a successful DSO operation is about managing the back end practices well and taking care to

maintain the culture of each individual office while still allowing patients to travel to any of the different office locations without seeing a difference in quality or empathy.

In his spare time, he still loves helping people. He mentors young dental students and helps them open their own private practices and has partnered with nonprofits to provide free dental care to veterans and families on numerous occasions. He also loves traveling, biking, basketball, tennis, and running in the park with his Goldendoodle, Jordy.
